Youth Sports programs are open to ALL children in the CtR Community: Parish, Ministry, and School. Children do not need to be enrolled at CtR Catholic School.
Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church and School is a member of the West Houston Christian Sports Association (WHCSA), a youth sport skill-building league. We are excited to offer to our youth at CtR. Here are the details:
Programs offered through a partnership with WHCSA: fall soccer, winter basketball, spring tee-ball/baseball/softball
Teams are formed on a first-registered basis.
Boys and girls teams will be formed as registrations are received.
Co-Ed teams may be formed if needed to field enough teams.
Sports Physicals are not required for WHCSA participants.
What sports are offered through CtR and WHCSA? Fall Soccer (Sept.-Nov.) Pre K-4th, Winter Basketball (Jan.-March) K-4th, and Spring Tee-Ball (March-May) Pre K-4th
How do I register my child? Please see the registration dates in the above table. On the opening dates, the registration link will be activated on the specific youth sport web page. All registrations must go through this portal.
Is there a registration fee or cost? The total cost varies per sport. Soccer: $175 per participant, Basketball: $225 and Baseball: $175. All registration fees are non-refundable. League fees, uniform orders, and team formation begin as soon as registration closes in order to have our teams scheduled and suited up for first games. We appreciate your understanding and support.
What does the registration fee provide for students? Sport fees offset the cost of league fees, official fees, facilitate the purchase of shared program equipment, and other program-related expenses. Also included in the season fee, all players receive:
Personlaized Sport Specific Team Medal and
8X10 Memory Mate Photo souvenir
FUN making priceless memories with family, new friends and old friends
Christ the Redeemer provides a team jersey and shorts for soccer. Parents will need to provide shin guards and cleats (not required).
For basketball, team jersey and short will be provided. Parents can purchase court shoes (not required).
For tee-ball/baseball/softball team jersey and cap will be provided. Parents are responsible for pants, socks, belt, batting helmet, cleats (not required) and if desired a league-approved bat.
How are teams selected and how many students are on a team? Once registration is closed, the Program Coordinator will form teams. Minimums per team vary by sport.
What if there aren't enough students or coaches for a team? If we do not have enough participants register, we will cancel the registrations and give full refunds.
How often are practices and when are the games? Teams will practice once a week for 30-45 minutes. Games are once a week on the weekend, typically Saturday. A schedule will be released at least one week before games start.
Can I request a specific coach, team, or practice time? We cannot guarantee requested coaches, teams or practice times. In the comment section of the registration form, you may request a friend to have on your team. We will do our best this season to accommodate friend requests.
Who coaches the teams? All teams are coached by parent volunteers from the school and church. Please consider signing up to coach when you register your child. All volunteer coaches must be Safe Environment trained. (Safe Environment online training educates clergy, staff and volunteers who work with children about child sexual abuse and the ways to create safe environments for children.).
